Tonight was my first time trying ground turkey…not bad at all! Definitely a healthier and leaner choice than ground beef and it can be substituted for beef in a lot of dishes. We decided to make some turkey burgers, nothing too crazy but still really good! But first, other eats for the day!
Breakfast consisted of Bakery on Main Granola, skim milk, and toast with blackberry jam…
I’ve always eaten granola in yogurt only but it is delicious in milk!
My lunch was bagel pizza (to be assembled at work) and a peach!
Now on to the burgers!
Recipe adapted from Annie’s Eats
- 2 Tbsp olive oil
- 1/4 c finely chopped onion
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced (or tsp jarred)
- 1 lb. ground turkey
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp kosher salt
- Italian Seasoning
(Annie’s recipe calls for fresh rosemary, sage, and thyme but I did not have these on hand…I’m sure it really enhances the flavor so refer to her recipe for those measurements if you prefer.)
Heat your grill to medium-high. In a saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the onion and saute for about 3 minutes. Add the garlic and continue cooking for about 2 more minutes, until the onion is tender. Remove from heat and transfer to a medium mixing bowl.
Add the ground turkey, salt, pepper, and herbs to the bowl. Mix well until combined. Form into patties (we got 5 out of this) and grill until evenly browned and cooked through, about 5-6 minutes on each side. Serve however your heart desires (we ate them with whole wheat buns, cheese, lettuce and tomatoes)!
They were quite good and curbed the craving for a juicy burger! There are so many different options for ground turkey and I can’t wait to try out another recipe!!
We had a side salad with this new dressing that we picked up the other week at Hanaford’s…soo good!
I had a chocolate craving and found this in the pantry…
Nothing healthy here but so good! A little treat (yes, I was treating myself for skipping my run today…so what? :D)
Wasn’t around long enough for a picture! 🙂
