Reid had the day off due to the hurricane so we spent the day hanging out at home. He watched Matilda this morning and I went on a solo run! It was pretty awesome, though I do like running with the stroller too. It was a little windy but the sun was out and it actually got hot!

I put on the Glee Pandora station and three miles flew by. I didn’t wear my Garmin but it took me about 35 minutes. I wasn’t pushing it at all and walked when I felt like it. 😉 It was so relaxing, and just what I needed. My arms were still sore from the sun salutations yesterday so I skipped the weights afterwards.

When I made my lunch yesterday I cut up some extra veggies for another salad. I need to do this more often! I know it doesn’t take too much time to make a salad but it’s so convenient to have it ready to go in the fridge (I don’t really care for the salad mixes that you can buy). It makes healthy eating much more probable when it’s already prepared!

Dinner also utilized pre-cut veggies. I bought this huge bag of chopped kale and it’s very handy! I need to add it to my next juice…you can really add it to anything! Kale is awesome! 🙂

Reid and I worked together in the kitchen and this zuppa toscana came together quickly.

This soup is my favorite but I really need to try something else…it’s the only one I ever make! We ate it with crusty bread and it was amazing.

This is really random but I ran to Rite Aid for some Halloween candy after Tilly went to sleep and picked up these tights…I got four pairs for $8.58! I love surprise deals and the colors are awesome, and they’re opaque! Reid has always said that I could shop in a convenience store and…it’s kind of true! It’s even worse now since a solo trip anywhere is a little treat and I wandered around the drug store for 30 minutes, just looking! 🙂

I’ll probably have some chocolate for dessert and then I’m going to crash. Maybe I’ve been getting too much sleep…I’ve been exhausted lately!

Any soup recipes that I should try?

Happy Friday! We had a good night last night so hopefully a good day will follow! I got up with Reid at 5:30 and made him breakfast, and then climbed back into bed and Matilda woke me up at 8:30. That extra hour was glorious.

I decided I needed some pumpkin pancakes but was too lazy to fully make them from scratch. I pulled out a boxed mix that I’ve had for a while and added a scoop of pumpkin and some spices!

They were really thick and one was plenty! I topped it with some butter and syrup.

Homemade would’ve obviously been better but it was still yummy.

After I ate we bundled up and headed out with the jogging stroller. We have the Joovy Zoom and I love it! It’s the only one I’ve ever used so I have nothing to compare it to but it’s a smooth ride and easy to steer. I love that the sun shade comes down really low.

I also love the neoprene drink holder! It holds everything snugly.

We did two miles and called it a day. It was super hilly so I got an upper body workout at the same time! I’ve only used the jogging stroller a couple times (6 months is the recommended age; we are a couple weeks shy but Matilda has really good head control and I’m not exactly moving very fast 😉 ) but I can tell it’s going to take a while to get used to. It’s hard to keep a good form!

Any tips for running with a stroller?

Hi friends! Any big plans for the weekend? I’ve had to work for the past few Saturdays so I’m excited that I have today off.

Why is it that I drag myself out of bed every weekday morning but on the weekends I can’t sleep in?? I have been really tired lately so I planned on sleeping in as long as I could. Well, my eyes popped open at 7:00 and I couldn’t fall back asleep.

I decided to take advantage of it and headed to the gym for an early morning run. It was pretty chilly outside and I didn’t feel like dealing with a jacket, tights, gloves, a head warmer, and a runny nose so the treadmill it was!

I just love this shirt…super comfy and perfectly long!

I ran and walked three miles and then finished up with some weights. I felt really good, though I definitely get tired much faster now. I need to start wearing my Garmin and heart rate monitor rather than relying on the machine’s monitor…I doubt it’s very accurate!

That makes two 3-mile runs this week and one Zumba class!! Hooray! It feels good to be moving again. Hopefully I can keep it up! My blood sugar has been going a little wacky lately and exercise definitely helps to regulate it. Keeping the numbers steady and normal is extremely important and it’s kind of stressing me out…we’ll get through it though! 🙂

I came home starving (I had a granola bar before the gym) and whipped up some eggs, toast, and sausage.

Not exactly heart healthy but it was delicious! Olive & rosemary bread is back! I think everyone has caught on to its deliciousness because I have a hard time getting a hold of a loaf…it’s pretty amazing.

I brewed some coffee and enjoyed a glass after I chilled it in the freezer for a while.

No big plans for the rest of the day, though we might run to a few baby stores to figure out where we want to register. Reid is cleaning out the spare bedroom/nursery so we can paint! Still haven’t decided on a color though…

Hi guys! Hope you had a good Monday! Today ended up being a good day…surprising since I generally hate Mondays. I got out of work at 3 and it was 45 degrees…in February! Wow, have we been spoiled this year!

I decided to try to go for a run since I didn’t have any meetings scheduled…I couldn’t waste a beautiful afternoon (especially after my rant yesterday)! I fueled up in the best way possible…

I made a batch of cupcakes (chocolate/peanut butter) for our Superbowl party and unfortunately there were some leftovers.

I had to chuckle when I went to zip up my jacket…it probably won’t be zipping for much longer!

I set out slowly on my usual 3-mile loop with plans to walk if I needed to, especially if things got uncomfortable. It was a little strange at first, since the belly definitely alters my form. I had to keep pulling my shoulders back…they wanted to slouch over the bump (can we call it that yet?)! I walked a few times but overall it was an awesome run! I’m so glad I got out there and the fresh air was wonderful. Oh to be training for a race!

For dinner I made a quick baked penne dish with spicy Italian sausage and mozzarella cheese…I used jarred sauce so it was really quick. I was surprised that it was so good! Lots of leftovers for lunches this week is an added bonus.

I wish I had remembered to make some broccoli for a side but ‘pregnancy brain’ is in full force and I remembered when we were sitting down to eat. Seriously, it’s no joke…I make lists and then forget to look at them.

I haven’t really had any weird food cravings but I could eat fruit, ice cream, and potato chips everyday, though not all together. That’s probably not much different than normal, though. 😀 One day I did mention something to Reid that sounded good (I can’t remember what it was) and his response was, “I’ll ask you about that after you have the baby and you can tell me what sounds good about that!” Ha!

I do miss coffee, which doesn’t taste very good anymore. I’ll have it every once in a while but definitely not everyday like before. I guess that’s kind of a good thing!

Time for The Bachelor and an apple for a snack!

Hi guys! I’ve missed you!

Words can’t even describe how insanely busy I’ve been…working three jobs and trying to combat sickness and fatigue, all while trying to keep up with healthy eating and exercise…um, yeah. But that’s okay! Things will calm down soon…I hope!

I’ll be 12 weeks tomorrow…only one week left in the first trimester! Hooray! I’m praying the nausea subsides soon and I can get back to eating normally. After a trip to the ER last week because of dehydration (from being so sick), I am now taking some medication when it gets really bad. At least I can keep some food down now! It’s obviously not ideal but not being able to eat anything isn’t either.

I’ve really struggled with fitting workouts in but hopefully things will slow down as my energy levels come back up. I actually got in an awesome gym session last night (45 minutes of cardio and 30 minutes of weights) and it felt so amazing. Though I did feel a little self conscious…I’m not obviously pregnant yet (obviously) but it’s getting harder to tighten my stomach muscles so I felt like people were thinking “someone’s been eating too much pie…better do another mile!” Leave me alone, okay? Winking smile 

I need to get this…

After a morning of not feeling so hot I came home from work and crawled into bed. I had so much to do but just had to push it from my head because my body was screaming at me to just rest. So I did. For 3 hours. Pure bliss.

And then I made dinner. Another accomplishment! It also included a vegetable. Progress, folks! My poor husband has been living off of eggs and toast lately.

I randomly had some chicken thighs in the freezer so I decided to try something new…a quick Google search pulled up this recipe from allrecipes.com for baked teriyaki chicken thighs…I had everything in the pantry so I was sold! It was really simple, though it took longer than I anticipated causing me to miss zumba…boo! But I guess it kind of redeemed itself because it really was delicious.

Paired with steamed broccoli and rice pilaf. And a side of vitamins. Yum.

Reid’s working late (which is why he couldn’t finish dinner) so I’m getting some work done and then snuggling up on the couch…with my awesome slippers. Reid groans every time I put them on. Open-mouthed smile
