Hi guys! Hope you had a good Monday! Today ended up being a good day…surprising since I generally hate Mondays. I got out of work at 3 and it was 45 degrees…in February! Wow, have we been spoiled this year!

I decided to try to go for a run since I didn’t have any meetings scheduled…I couldn’t waste a beautiful afternoon (especially after my rant yesterday)! I fueled up in the best way possible…

I made a batch of cupcakes (chocolate/peanut butter) for our Superbowl party and unfortunately there were some leftovers.

I had to chuckle when I went to zip up my jacket…it probably won’t be zipping for much longer!

I set out slowly on my usual 3-mile loop with plans to walk if I needed to, especially if things got uncomfortable. It was a little strange at first, since the belly definitely alters my form. I had to keep pulling my shoulders back…they wanted to slouch over the bump (can we call it that yet?)! I walked a few times but overall it was an awesome run! I’m so glad I got out there and the fresh air was wonderful. Oh to be training for a race!

For dinner I made a quick baked penne dish with spicy Italian sausage and mozzarella cheese…I used jarred sauce so it was really quick. I was surprised that it was so good! Lots of leftovers for lunches this week is an added bonus.

I wish I had remembered to make some broccoli for a side but ‘pregnancy brain’ is in full force and I remembered when we were sitting down to eat. Seriously, it’s no joke…I make lists and then forget to look at them.

I haven’t really had any weird food cravings but I could eat fruit, ice cream, and potato chips everyday, though not all together. That’s probably not much different than normal, though. 😀 One day I did mention something to Reid that sounded good (I can’t remember what it was) and his response was, “I’ll ask you about that after you have the baby and you can tell me what sounds good about that!” Ha!

I do miss coffee, which doesn’t taste very good anymore. I’ll have it every once in a while but definitely not everyday like before. I guess that’s kind of a good thing!

Time for The Bachelor and an apple for a snack!

Hi guys! Hope you’re having a good week so far!

I had to work this morning and meals were quick and easy. Cereal for breakfast and soup at the office. I made a ham and cheddar chowder for dinner last night and it was amazing! I can’t wait to share the recipe…so simple, delicious, and filling. I’ve had trouble with chowders being grainy but this was anything but.

It was a beautiful day today so once home I changed, ate a pumpkin chip muffin for ‘fuel’ (or I just wanted to eat it, whichever you prefer) and headed out for a walk.

For some reason I have no interest running lately! I walked for about 40 minutes and listened to music…so relaxing! This is random but does anyone else need to let their wrists ‘breathe’ when working out? Even if it’s below zero, I have to push my sleeves up over my wrists or I feel almost claustrophobic…strange.

I did a quick weights session when I was done. I did three different moves, 3 sets of 20 reps each. I never know what the moves are called, though!

Reid was working late so rather than putting together a big dinner I just opted for an omelet.  It was stuffed with green peppers, mushrooms, ham, and cheddar cheese. With another muffin on the side. I could actually eat the whole batch, if I’m being honest.

It was devoured while watching some important shows, like Rachel Zoe. 😉

The X Factor is on tonight!! Love it or hate it?

A few weeks ago I was invited to run the Viking 5K, a local race to raise money for the high school booster club…of course I jumped at the offer! I love racing close to home. It makes things so much easier!

The race started at 8 a.m. yesterday morning, with registration and pick-up opening at 7:00. I woke up at 6:30 to temperatures in the 30’s. Yikes! My knee was really tight so I told myself I would just take it easy.

I needed to get a long run in so I packed up my fuel belt and a change of clothes so that I could just stop at my parent’s house afterwards and head out for some extra mileage post race. By the time I was heading out it had warmed up a little bit to perfect running temps.

The race was held at the high school and was really well-organized…plenty of parking close by and lots of room at the start!

I walked up to the table and was handed a packet with my race bib, safety pins, t-shirt, and some goodies! Food is always a good thing. Winking smile

The course was downhill for the first two miles and uphill for the last mile…I was dreading the hill but it actually wasn’t too bad! I finished at 28:52 and was happy with that.

Overall it was an awesome event and I hope it becomes an annual thing! You could tell that it was organized by runners! Smile

I hung out at the race for a little while and then headed out. I dropped my car off, filled up my fuel belt, removed my bib, and set out on a 7-mile loop. It had a nice mix of hills and flat areas and the temps were hovering in the 60’s. Perfection. My knee was still bothering me a little but I didn’t notice it after the first mile. 10 miles complete, sans music! I finished up in about an hour and 44 minutes (including my time and mileage from the race).

Very thankful for an unheated pool afterwards!!

It was a great running day!! I’m feeling a little more confidant for my upcoming half marathon. Only two weeks left!

Hi friends! Hope you had a great weekend! Did anyone lose power or have any damage from the hurricane? Thankfully it calmed down a lot before it reached us and we never lost power and only have a few branches down. I know others weren’t so lucky, though…

Saturday morning I had my mind set on getting a run in and it looked to be a perfect day, 70 and overcast. Seemingly as soon as I stepped outside, the sun started peeping through. Come on! Both of our iPod’s were dead so I set out on a silent trek. I planned to do a 3 mile loop twice and stop back at my house for water, rather than carry it with me.

I have a tough time running in the heat and I usually will let it get the best of me and quit early. Not so today! I actually enjoyed going music-less and it helped me to focus more on my pace. I stopped into Rite Aid and grabbed a few gulps of water since I figured if I went home, I might not go around again. I set a goal of 1:05 because of the heat and came in at 1:05:49…I’ll take it!

My sister-in-law had her baby (a boy) on Friday so we stopped in at the hospital on Saturday…so cute!! I didn’t get a picture, though…

I worked from 9 to 3 today and both breakfast and lunch were eaten at my desk…cottage cheese and blueberries, a coffee, and then soup! Not very interesting…

I came home and cleaned for a bit before I got distracted by blog-reading…it always sucks me in! Smile Julie of Peanut Butter Fingers posted a recipe for Nutella Granola and I was literally in the kitchen making it within minutes.

I need to make my own granola more often! I always forget how simple it is…

I overcooked mine so the flavor was a little off but it was still good! I would probably only bake it for 15 minutes next time so it would be a little chewy…It could just be my oven, though! I didn’t add the chocolate chips yet but I might.
